Eventful Day.

aside from all the stupids at work... today was also quite eventful on the homefront. my brothers gf gotta job, my other brother got his licence, and my dad got a promotion. all in all... it was a good day. ive been screwing around with photoshop quite a bit... theres so much shit in there. lol.. and my buddy gave me some software for burning dvds... so i'll be looking into that. wut else... ummm... 17 DAYS!!! OMFG!!! lol. i plan on stopping by in Winnipeg for a few days... visit brynne. haha, last year was so much fun, lol. (reference the video soon to be on youtube for further proof).. haha, i was in winnipeg for like 3 nights and by the last day, i was like, completely sleep deprived... i mean, little to no sleep each night... lol, its quite evident in the video. i hope we have as much fun this year. least we know where most of the CIBC's are eh brynne?:P lol... ummm... wut else.... plan on doin a human factors/flight operations quiz tonite... to you know... "test my knowledge" lol and uhhh... ya... thats really it... more later, im off to take a shower and study, ciao.

juss got home.

sooo... today is friday. and i opt to work tomorrow so i can afford to go home for xmas.. plans for tonite include a little studying and a lot of sleeping... lol, as i almost fell asleep at work today cuz it was so boring. i intend to finish off studying human factors/flight operations this weekend and then spend the next 3 weeks going hardcore into navigation and review of previous areas so i can spend the xmas doing the practice exams so i can come back and take on "the big one". im pumped for it tho.. itd be a huge load off my shoulders and a huge motivational factor... so i can spend more time concentrating on flying after xmas. thats the battle plan. fuck, im so excited. exactly 21 days from this exact point in time i will be in toronto getting ready to board my connecting flight. nothin beats holidays in pearson international. (note the sarcasim) lol. it wasnt too bad last year... so ya. 21 days... :>:>:> sadly i miss the xmas party at work tho:(... but... apparently i get to go to robyns... so if there is an open bar.. i think it should almost even itself out. lol. anyways, im out for tonite, more later... ciao.

Todays topic: Turbochargers, Superchargers, and gas turbine engines.

Turbo chargers are a type of "forced induction system". this means they compress air into the engine. a turbo charger allows an engine to basically cram more air and fuel into the cylinders to give a larger "power stroke".
the exaust from the cylinders spins the turbine which is connected by a shaft on the compressor. the exaust gases that come out of the cylinders pass through the turbine blades. the more exaust gas that passes through the blades the faster they spin. the faster the blades spin, the faster the shaft spins the compresser wheel, and the more air is compressed back into the cylinders. most turbo chargers have a "wastegate". a waste gate is valve that allows exaust to bypass the turbine to reduce lag at high engine speeds.

Superchargers are also forced induction systems.. but unlike turbochargers (which use exaust gas to drive a turbine).. superchargers are powered by belt-drive from the engines crankshaft. superchargers are not subject to lag like turbochargers because they are engine driven. the faster the engine runs, the more compressed air the supercharger produces.

lets talk a little about gas turbine engines now. in a gas turbine engine, an engine creates its own gases by burning kerosene or jet fuel. these gases are heated, so they expand rapidly and spin the turbine.

Me: "Why, yes you did... it turns out Calgarian actually is as amazing as he says he is. these fucking aliens invaded the shop and took us all hostage.... but Calgarian wouldnt stand for it... we were all tied up and helpless... so he ripped the space rope off with his titanium teeth and stood up and said "IN ALBERTA!!! WE WONT STAND FOR THIS!!!!" and then the aliens said, "OH NOES!! SHOOT HIM BEFORE HE CONTINUES HIS STORY AND BORES US TO DEATH!!!!" so they blasted him with their lasers... the lasers just hit him and reflected... and killed most of the aliens.... then he whistled and his horse jumped and smashed through the window. and he jumped on, pulled out his double edged sword which he made back in the 70's while on acid... and charged the aliens... chasing them around the entire building. decapitating the majority of them as they fled in terror and disbelief. he finally caught up to the leader of the aliens, cornered him in the cube core room, dismounted from his horse... walked right up to him... and punched his fist right through his skull... and pulled his enormous brain out and ate it right there. he then boarded their spacecraft and fled it to up into space and into the mother ship and again, whistled... and his horse just appeared and he started chasing the aliens around their ship. lasooing them and then tied them all together. he then sat down infront of the group of tied up aliens and told them a bunch of stories about back in the 70's while he smoked. the aliens didnt enjoy it... but they didnt want to say anything even tho they knew he was full of shit... cuz they were too polite. after boring them close to death... he proceeded to the control room, round house kicked the master computer... juss for fun... pointed the mother ship at the sun, hit the light speed button, and jumped right through the window as the mother ship warp sped right through the sun, and parachuted to earth with a parachute he made out of his horse. once he was about 4-5000 feet above the shop, he cut the ropes of his horse chute so that he cud free fall and reach a velocity fast enough to smash through the roof at the exact location where his table is. he then just continued to build his supply blades as though nothing happened. ... we had to start cleaning up at 4 today tho... cuz of the extensive damage, and the roofing company fixed the roof and Calgarian already fixed the windows by superheating some kids sandbox and and smoothening it out with somesort of gadget he had just invented back in the 70's... oh, and then he used one of those memory wiper things like on men in black to erase everyones memory of it ever happening... so dont expect anyone to tell u any of this. i was the only intelligent person in the building who wasnt attracted to the "shiny red light". cya tomorrow."

i should be studying.

ya, i should be studying.... but ive been at work for 10 hours, then came home and had to do some things... and its fuggin friday. those days are very hard to study on. even tho i really dont have an overly exciting weekend this weekend. work tomorrow 7-12... get grocercies... and study airframes and engines the rest of the weekend. hurray. (note the enthusiasm) i really miss flying tho... its been like... wow... lemme think... about 2 months now.... i just ordered the culhanes test book. hopefully i'll have all my notes and study time done/logged by the 14th(when i go home) so that i can just destroy it over xmas break and come back and be ready to write.... hopefully. lol. i cud sooooo be studying right now.... but im so fuggin exausted.. my weeks are starting to go by ridiculously fast... which i have no problem with. wut else is new.... ummm... OH!! i saw tim today. he stopped by at work, lol. good times... wut else... ummm... i gotta case for my new kick ass cell phone. i love it. best cell phone EVER... ... so far... lol. ... 28 DAYS!!! fuck. robyn seems to be pretty excited too, which is cool. its gunna be so much fun, lol. i cant wait to see my family... i dread coming back tho. last year was torture. i juss hafta stay motivated i guess. i cant remember if i said this earlier but my license was actually MAILED!!! :> i mean, i cant get over how awesome it is to finally hold the OFFICIAL piece of paper i've wanted ever since i was "juss a wee lad" lol. ugh... sheer awesomeness. hmm.... i think i dont really have anything else relevant to say... wait... *thinks* :O!! DURK DURK BALLAH!!! lol... there now i think we're done here. ciao for now.

the past.

Wow... i juss finished reading an old blog i had about 3 years ago. it was actually quite depressing. seriously... i mean, my life now is going great... but to look back to a time when my life was in complete disarray.. i remember how rough it was, and i relize how futunate i was to maybe... bumped into a particular person at a club... or to have read a particular job ad... or anything that could have been a life altering point... you know those points rite?? the ones where you're forced into making a choice?? a very important choice?? one that would determine the outcome of the rest of your life?? or at least a long friggin time, lol. i unno... i just find it to be weird.. i guess eventually people figure "it" out... but i think i was just more futunate tho. oh well, c'est la vie:P im off ta bed. ciao.

My first blog.

Ok. So I officially have a blog. Now lets see how much i can keep this updated, lol. .. I'll also try to keep it interesting:P chances are most of it will be about stupid antics, personal issues, and flying.. or things I've studied, to help me learn and remember. fyi... i dont believe in spell check or proper grammer on blogs, so juss a heads up:P But ya, right now... its almost 11 pm and I gotta work tomorrow... so i'll make a post tomorrow. g'nite:)
